Return to the Library for a Special PerformanceOn October 29, 2005 in the Community Room at the Macedon Public Library, Betty Blue and Peter Pocket returned for a special performance under the direction of Rosalie Gabbert. The puppet duo, created by Mrs. Gabbert, performed “The Birthday Party”, a show in three acts tailored to youngsters from three to five years of age. Adults who remembered Betty Blue and Peter Pocket from their own childhood days at the library were encouraged to attend. Refreshments were provided by the Friends of the Macedon Public Library.
Rosalie Gabbert, a teacher trained in Early Childhood Education and a gifted puppeteer, presided over the Storytime sessions at the Macedon Public Library for over 20 years. From 1966 to1987, when she retired as the Library Assistant in charge of the Children’s Department, Rosalie and her puppets entertained multitudes of Macedon youngsters in the weekly story-telling sessions.
