Thanks to the generosity of the Wegman's Food Market in Perinton, the walls in the Children’s section of the library have been decorated with a unique and entertaining Farming and Nature-themed mural.  Artist Becky McDonald, a Wegman's employee, designed and painted the mural, which features a bright green tractor, a three-dimensional pumpkin patch, and a variety of other delectable vegetables and cute creatures.

Friends Honor Rosalie Gabbert with Commemorative Brick - Click here for Photo Gallery

The new Macedon Public Library celebrated the second anniversary of its Grand Opening on August 3, 2005.   On that day, the Friends of the Macedon Public Library chose to honor one of their own, a lady who not only facilitated the founding of the Friends in the early 1970’s, but who kept the Friends’ flame burning during a decade of inactivity during the 1990’s.  Rosalie Gabbert was honored by the Friends with a commemorative brick placed in the walkway in front of the library.  The inscription reads:  “In honor of Rosalie Gabbert, a True Friend of the Library and Young Readers”.

Twice this year, Ernie VanderMolen of Macedon shared a number of the items passed down through his family, representing articles widely in use in days gone by in the Macedon community.  Besides the studded horseshoe, with metal cleats which screwed into place when greater traction was required, the display featured a child’s bank in the form of a book inscribed with the logo of the First National Bank of Macedon, a tool for positioning a brass ring in the nose of a pig, an alligator wrench, postcards showing Macedon scenes from the early 1900’s and typical portrait photography from that era, and a copy of “The Farmer’s Favorite” - a catalog from the well-known farm implement makers, the Bickford and Huffman Manufacturers of Macedon, NY.
