Minutes for the meeting of June 20, 2007:

- President Bartels called the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Macedon Public Library to order at 1:00 p.m.

- Secretary’s Report
Minutes of the regular meeting of May 16, 2007, were approved. Motion by Read. Second by Bellis. Approved. One abstention.
- Financial Report
Treasurer Leonard distributed copies and reviewed the financial report for May 2007. Motion by Bellis and second by Jefferson to accept the Treasurer’s report. Unanimously passed.
Three trustees verified vouchers #81-101 inclusive. Approval was made for payment of abstract #5, May 2007, in the amount of $7660.55. Motion by Moore. Second by Jefferson. Unanimously passed.
- Director’s Report
Director Virkler provided a Library Director’s Report to the BOT on current activity and events. Highlights discussed were:
· Circulation for May 2007 is down a little from May 2006.
· The Adult Literacy Grant
· The upgrade to Zimbra

Friends of the MPL - Abbe Harbol, Liaison - excused
Handfield reported that the quilt is progressing. A plaque that survived the fire was found. The BOT gave approval to the Friends to mount the plaque in the library at Director Virkler’s discretion.

Mission Statement - Mert Bartels
Moore moved and Bartels seconded that the BOT adopt Read’s new version. Unanimously approved. It was agreed that the Mission Statement be on one page and the Vision Statement on a separate page in the Library Policy Handbook and that the Mission Statement be framed and hung in a prominent place in the Library.
The new Mission Statement:
The Macedon Public Library provides to all constituents of the Town of Macedon and contiguous communities, books, visual materials, audio recordings, computer technology, and a variety of programs to promote lifelong learning and social awareness.
Self Evaluation Forms
Read discussed scoring and how to deal with the results. The top two areas that need improvement are: ongoing training for all BOT members and orientation of new BOT members.
8. New Business
President Bartels proposed a Long Range Plan committee to begin in the fall. Read will chair. Bellis volunteered.
9. The next regular meeting of the BOT of the MPL is July 18, 2007, at the Macedon Town Hall Conference Room, Macedon, NY.
10. Bellis moved to adjourn at 1:52 p.m.. Jefferson seconded. Unanimously approved.
