Macedon Public Library Board of Trustees

Minutes for the meeting of May 16, 2007: 

Location - Conference Room, Macedon Town Hall, Macedon, NY.

  1. President Bartels called the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Macedon Public Library to order at 1:00 p.m.

Attendance: Trustees, Manager, Treasurer

  1. Secretary’s Report 

Minutes of the regular meeting of April 18, 2007, were approved. Motion by Perez. Second by Bellis. Unanimously passed.

  1. Financial Report

Treasurer Leonard distributed copies of the financial report for April 2007.       

Motion by Perez to accept the Treasurer’s report. Second by Bellis. Unanimously passed.

Three trustees verified vouchers #68-80 inclusive. Approval was made for payment of abstract #4, April 2007, in the amount of $9997.20.  Motion by Harbol. Second by Bellis. Unanimously passed.

  1. Director’s Report

Director Virkler provided a Library Director’s Report to the BOT on current activity and events.         Highlights for April:

·        Circulation in April 2007 is up 6% from April 2006

·        Three new computers have been installed and the ones that were replaced were given to the police.

·        Virkler inquired as to the possibility of acquiring an Amazon charge card which would clarify billing of DVD’s. Harbol so moved. Perez seconded. Unanimously approved.

·        New movable book shelf is in use

·        Quilt: drawing?

·        Over $2,000 raised at spring used book sale

·        Chess Club currently on hiatus

·        Harry Potter contest will begin in June

·        No volunteers for teen web page

·        Soliciting kids to create their own displays for the case

                        Long Range Goals - Mert Bartels

                                    Tabled due to absence of three members.

  1. New Business 

President Bartels urged the BOT to read the pages that he had distributed to mail boxes regarding Trustees’ responsibilities.

President Bartels solicited bids from two firms for the impending audit. Gray CPA furnished a bid of $1,600 and Raymond Wager a bid ranging from $1,500 to $1,950.  Bellis moved to accept Gray’s bid. Read seconded. Unanimously passed.

Read is compiling information from the survey the BOT took. However, several members have not returned their survey. Results will be discussed at future meetings.

  1. The next regular meeting of the BOT of the MPL is June 20, 2007, at the Macedon Town Hall Conference Room, Macedon, NY.
     
  1. Perez moved to adjourn at 2:22 p.m.  Harbol seconded. Unanimously approved.
