Minutes - March 20, 2008
Present: Joan Handfield, Carol Klingler, Joan Moore, Rosalie Gabbert, Denie Johnston, Karen Yatteau, Marile Waterstraat, Pam Dibble, Scarlett Miles, Nancy Wint
The meeting was called to order by Joan Handfield at 1:07 p.m. in the library’s Community Room.
Secretary’s report: The minutes of February 21, 2008 were approved as written.
Treasurer’ report:
- Friend’s savings account: $822.72
- Friends checking account: $552.08
- CRMPL savings account: $4,878.69
- Endowment Fund A: $77,096.00
- Endowment Fund B: $12,262.41
- 2007-2008 Grant making account: $2660.66
On May 20, 2007, we received the 2006-2007 grant making account balance of $2,170.77 from RACF; this amount was deposited in the CRMPL account. One withdrawal of $250 in Endowment grant funds on 2/08/08 for Chris Blomgren - History Alive!
Announcements and updates:
Display Cases: Bottles are in display case for March; April - Joan Handfield’s Dolphins.
Book sales:
- eBay sales: No current sales
- Rundel: $5.10 in March
- On-going: $89.25
- Used Book Sale: April 23, 6:30-8:00 p.m. preview. Sale April 24, 25, 26,
with take-down on April 27.- Saturday, April 12 is Book Donation Day, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
- Distribution of left-over children’s books: Carol Klingler checking on Cameron Community Ministries as possible place.
History Committee: Rosalie Gabbert and Helen Pentoney will update the book of library history next month.
CRMPL: Inserting envelope in Spring issue of Macedon Messenger to kick off this year’s “Double Your Dollars” campaign.
Outreach: no report
Programming Grades 5-8: Scarlett Miles attended NYS Summer Reading Program training session at PLS and has ideas with possible budget per project. Theme this year is “Catch the Reading Bug”.
Old Business: Ed Fortuna presented art suggestion for Graphic Novel Center. He has an excellent drawing to demonstrate. Needs to be approved. Ed will check if frame for poster could be donated.
New Business:
- Donated $25 for Darlene Virkler’s father (flowers)
- Karen Yatteau wondering about an e-mail type phone tree to relay pertinent info such as deaths, etc.
- Joan Moore suggested possibility of small quilt show during celebration week Aug. 3, 2008.
Next meeting April 17, 2008 in the Community Room. After meeting, work on Storytime bags.
