Minutes - August 16, 2007
Present - Joan Moore, Marile Waterstraat, Joan Handfield, Abbe Harbol
Vice President Handfield called the meeting to order at 1 P.M. in the meeting room of the Town Hall.
Secretary’s Report - The minutes of the July 19 meeting were approved.
Treasurer’s Report - Approx. $1,000 in Friends’ checking
$66,111 in Friends Endowment (both funds)
Some money will be given to the Foundation:
$12,000 including $5,000 in matching funds to Fund A
$1,500 to Fund BBook Sales - Rundel $11.00
On-going $50.00
CRMPL Update - The Endowment Board of Directors’ meeting next week will include a review of grant proposals. The possibilities of a small mailing to local businesses in the fall were discussed.
No History Committee report.
The display case currently has a LeLeche display.
Outreach - Handfield mailed a box of books to a soldier in Iraq. The cost was approximately half of the $20 as originally thought.
Handfield will talk to Director Virkler to discuss a rotating collection of large print books and books on tape for the residents of Parkwood. It is also possible that some money from the Endowment could be used to purchase additional items. She will also discuss with the activities director and manager of Parkwood the logistics of such a project.
Handfield will explore the possibilities of outreach to local jails.
Old Business - Moore will put a photo of the Harry Potter book drawing and an accompanying article in the Macedon Messenger.
We will order four dozen boxes for book sorting. The cost is approximately $130.00. June Hamill will order them using a special library account from Office Max.
Waterstraat will investigate buying batting and fabric in a wood grain for the front of the quilt. (Petty cash) We will work on the quilt at the September meeting.
